Ecosystems in Putumayo range from cloud forests to lowland tropical rainforests creating diverse habitats. The unique topography produces a variety of microclimates where the highland terrain of the Andes Mountains transitions into the lowlands of the Amazon Basin. This region is home to over 20,000 plant species, 500 varieties of birds, 300 species of amphibians and reptiles, 150 types of mammals and 600 species of fish. Local traditions and indigenous influences play a significant role in daily life where community members often come together for festivities that include music, dance, and food. The natural surroundings provide a source of livelihood and inspire deep respect for the environment among the residents, who regularly meet and discuss conservation efforts.
The Property
Finca Tigre is a 50 hectare farm situated in the jungle on the mountainside in Mocoa’s Zarsal community. The remote location offers stunning views and direct access to Cascada Hornoyaco and Canalendres Recreation Area. Characterized by its strong community spirit that exemplifies rural Colombian life, Zarsal is a hotspot for hiking, swimming, mountain biking and birdwatching for both locals and visitors.
